Functional Behavior Assessments (FBA)
A Functional Behavior Assessment (FBA) is a process used to understand why a behavior is happening. During an FBA, a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) works closely with families, teachers, and caregivers to identify the purpose a behavior serves—such as getting attention, avoiding a task, or gaining access to something. By observing when and where the behavior occurs, the BCBA can develop a clear plan to replace challenging behaviors with positive, more appropriate ones.
The goal of an FBA is to uncover the “why” behind behavior so we can create practical, compassionate strategies that lead to lasting change.
Behavior Intervention Plans (BIP)
A Behavior Intervention Plan (BIP) is a personalized plan created after a Functional Behavior Assessment (FBA) to help reduce challenging behaviors and teach positive, replacement skills. Each BIP is designed specifically for the individual and includes clear, practical strategies that parents, teachers, and therapists can use consistently across settings. The goal of a BIP is to support lasting change by focusing on understanding behavior, preventing challenges before they happen, and teaching appropriate ways to communicate or cope.
Social Skills Group
A Social Skills Group provides a fun, supportive environment where individuals can learn and practice important social behaviors with peers. Led by experienced behavior professionals, these small groups focus on skills such as communication, making friends, emotional regulation, teamwork, and problem-solving. Each session is structured around evidence-based ABA principles and tailored to meet the needs of the participants’ age and developmental level.
The goal is to help participants build confidence, form meaningful relationships, and carry these skills into real-life settings like home, school, and the community.
Staff and Community Trainings
Staff and Community Outings are structured, goal-oriented activities designed to promote the generalization of skills and community engagement. Led by trained behavior professionals, these outings provide clients with real-world opportunities to practice communication, adaptive, and social behaviors across settings. Staff also benefit from collaborative experiences that reinforce team cohesion and consistency in implementing ABA principles outside the clinic. By fostering inclusion and real-world readiness, community outings serve as a valuable extension of our therapeutic approach.
